Opernetz.de, Herbert Henning:
“Visually, the performance is a feast for the eyes thanks to Christoph Weyers’ costumes. Many costumes are inspired by the gothic scene, a bit of horror, science fiction and a lot of sex. And his gigantic stage set with the playable giant portal and the huge inflatable castle that collapses at the end to reveal a view of the cathedral is more than just an effect.”
Thatsmusical.de, 26.06.2014 - Stadttheater Magdeburg:
“For ‘Time Warp’ they shed their black covers and Christoph Weyers’ creative costumes emerge. Weyers was inspired by Magdeburg’s distinct Gothic scene and cannot deny his training as a theatre painter - so he paints a painting of the Gothic scene with costumes. Most of the various Gothic styles can be seen, even an Asian Lolita in magenta. The stage is also the work of Christoph Weyers. A huge peepshow with a frame that has to be about 15 metres high and can be played on is part of it. Behind it, there is a mighty stage with Frank n’ Furter’s inflatable castle, which fittingly collapses at the end.”
MFJ - 22.06.2014, Stadttheater Magdeburg:
“The setting is pure, a structure made of granite, with a large stone staircase and stone columns, so that the colourful actors acting in front of it are shown in the best light. Two large, interconnected inflatable “beds” are also used, which have a kind of staircase in the middle that is used during the floor show when the performers in chic white suspenders, white-silver corsages, white feather boas and co. start the finale. [...] One advantage of an open-air stage: With the dimensions of a normal stage, you are spatially limited in terms of width and height. That is not the case in Magdeburg: Performers also appear at the top of the stage arch, which is really impressive; they seem small so you get an impression of how big the stage and the cathedral behind it are. This free space is also used by releasing balloons into the sky. The costumes and wigs are colourful, garish and shrill. Hees appears in black platforms and, as befits the occasion, with black curly hair. [...] All in all, it is a really great production against an impressive backdrop (stage and costumes: Christoph Weyers), with familiar faces from the musical industry on stage, showing full commitment and engaging the audience.”
Online Musik Magazin, 21.06.2014, Stadttheater Magdeburg:
“The production is still more than just hot air, even if parts of Christoph Weyers’ stage are just blown up. Like the inside of the haunted castle, the roses shooting out like phalli, or the giant beds for Janet and Brad. When the landlord from the planet Transexual from the galaxy Transylvania seduces first her and then him, or when his blond-haired Rocky (Tobias Bieri) floats in like a Homunculus in a sphere, it’s almost like a child's birthday party. Or the memory of a musical dream where anything goes. Which somehow everyone seems to share. [...] In Magdeburg, they are now ensuring that this memory stays alive with a snappy show from the cast and with a young, wonderfully playful and strong-voiced, crazy costumed troupe.”
